In 1933 R.W.Randall (Alan’s father) took on established milk retail business from his father and uncle, with dairy herds at both Hyde Farm and Temple Park . There were traditional arable enterprises also , providing feed for the cattle and milk cart horses, and for general sale too. 1956 milk retailing was given up, but dairying continued on both farms for wholesale markets. In 1977 dairying ceased at Hyde Farm to increase arable area, all cows were moved to a combined herd in new facilities at Temple. The herd peaked at 160 high performing Holstein Friesians. In 2002 the herd was dispersed due to unsustainable low returns. The arable area consequently increased and an additional 300 acres were taken on under a farm Business Tenancy. In 2005 Alan's son Andrew joined the business aged 28 to add to overall management input, and to develop medium and long term plans with an emphasis on developing non farming income.
